Colene received her Bachelor of Science in Food Science, Food Service Management, and Dietetics from Dominican University in River Forrest Illinois, and then continued on to RUSH University to complete her dietetic internship and Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition. Since then, she has been in practice for 19+ years working at hospitals in a variety of different settings. After several years in inpatient care, she was driven to explore other areas of nutrition outside of the hospital walls. This shift of passion and focus was mainly facilitated by concerns about her own child’s feeding-related issues. This prompted her to take a deep dive into pediatric feeding and gastrointestinal health. She was able to learn from some amazing minds in the field and help her child with his challenges while also helping other families in the same situation. She took on positions in both an integrative feeding clinic and a gastrointestinal specialty clinic working with clients with neurodivergent disorders, ARFID, IBS, IBD, Celiac, Crohn’s, and colitis. While gaining experience and honing these skills, she started to find a lot of her clients were showing red flags for possible eating-related disorders. Since then, she continued to educate herself to add more knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to help support these clients including working with eating disorder clients in residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient care.

In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, reading, writing, rock climbing, hiking, snow skiing, yoga, and generally being active outdoors.
